Itinerary

09.00 AM

Our adventure at EFV starts off with an hour and a half drive trough the luscious jungle. As you watch, you’ll see Westernized buildings start to fade away and transition to Karen-style bamboo and wooden houses. Once you’ve arrived at the camp, it is time for a small break and some refreshments.

11.00 AM

Afterwards you will meet our elephant keepers and your tour guide for the day. After a brief introduction into the history of each elephant and their connection to the Karen village, you will get your Karen-style shirt for the day. This is followed by preparing some elephant medicine balls, so be prepared to get your hands dirty!

12.00 AM

Now it is finally time to meet the elephants who are already eager to meet you, as they new visitors bring tasty treats, so you will get quite close to them while your tour guide captures all these moments on camera. The elephants will lead you then into the forest to show you their favourite places to forage.

14.00 PM

It’s now time for you to take a break with some locally prepared lunch. This gives you also the opportunity to have a chat with your tour guide to learn more about Karen culture. After lunch, it is time for a small hike and a bath: At the river, the elephants will lay down so we can scrub all the part of their skin to help then with parasite prevention. Back at the camp, you have time for a shower and change of clothes.

15.00 PM

Now you can individualise your stay to your liking: Go on a hike to the local waterfall, explore the village or take a workshop. You can learn how to make Karen jewelry, learn Karen songs or how to play an instrument, make cups out of bamboo or get some sling-shot training. You also have the opportunity to learn the native language or roll banana cigarettes. For the cooking fanatics, the offer to cook your dinner with a Karen local might be the right choice. And if you want a more permanent memory of your visit, you can book a visit at our local tattoo artist.

20.00 PM

After dinner, your time at our camp ends with a traditional hand-tying ceremony, which is a traditional Karen ritual and a way of blessing people. From there, we will bring you back to your hotel in Chiang May. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us!
